Accessing Courses & Navigating Within a Course

Accessing your courses

Navigating within your courses is separate from the website navigation. First, to view your courses, find the tab that says My Courses in the upper light grey tool-bar.

Clicking here will direct you to the overview of all courses you currently have. You can click on the arrow to the right of each course title to view your progress in the course.

Clicking on a course’s title will take you to the course overview page. Here you will see all units within the selected course. Units that contain lessons or activities will each have an arrow on the right side, which can be used to expand or collapse the unit to view the lessons and activities within. Content that has bee completed will be marked with a green checkmark symbol to the left of the title.

Clicking on any of the unit, lesson, or activity titles will bring you to that location in the course, and from that point you will use the internal course navigation.

Moving Through a Course

Now that we know how to access courses, let’s look at how to get started on one. Select the title of the first unit from the course overview page. Once you have reviewed any information on the unit page, scroll down and click the title of the next lesson under the large bar titled Unit Content. You can also click the next lesson button at the top or bottom of the page.

While some lessons and activities may be viewed directly within the lesson page, you will see many of them are launched with a button into a new tab.

While within a lesson tab, you may click EXIT SESSION at any time in the upper right hand corner to save your progress and close the tab.

If you see a section that says Complete the content above before moving on, look back through the lesson and make sure you have interacted with all of the content – tabs, accordions, quiz questions, etc.

When you have reached the end of a lesson, you will need to click the Complete Lesson button so the session closes properly and logs your progress.

Once you click the complete lesson button, your lesson tab will close, taking you back to the main lesson page. To move on from here, click the name of the next lesson in the sidebar. Your current lesson is the one in bold, and the green checkmark for your current lesson will appear once you progress to the next page.

Course Sidebar

The sidebar can be used to move about the course more freely. It can be expanded or minimized by clicking the arrow in the top right corner. Within the sidebar you can see the entire course outline, where you can expand and collapse the various units and select any of the previous lessons if you need to return to something for review, or jump back to your current position in the course.

Navigation Within a Course Overview

• Click on My Courses from the light grey toolbar to view your courses.
• Click on a course title to view its outline, and click on a unit or lesson title to enter the course at that spot.
• Many lessons are launched with a Launch Lesson button that opens the lesson in a new tab.
• You MUST hit the Complete Lesson button for your lesson progress to be saved so that you can move forward in the course.
• After completing a lesson, select the next lesson in the sidebar to move on.
• Previous buttons are located at the top and bottom of the page.
• The sidebar shows the course outline, and can be used to jump back to older lessons for review. It can be expanded or collapsed.
